About me

I am a busy mom of 3 beautiful children born between 2018 and 2023. I am married to the love of my life who I met in medical school. He is a practicing family doctor, and we are both very involved in our church community. I was born in Egypt and immigrated to Canada with my family at the age of 7 and was inspired by my parents' hard work and tenacity. I knew I wanted to be a doctor since early on in high school and majored in biology before getting into medical school.

Having grown up in such a diverse area (Toronto), I had no idea what I was getting into when I first moved to Maine of all places to start my medical school journey. To say it was a culture shock is an unterstatement!

The fun stuff

But everything happens for a reason and I met my now husband within the first few weeks. Our lives have been, and continue to be, an adventure and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I have varied interests including music, dancing and I was a competitive rhythmic gymnast back in the day! I am obsessed with the beach, Starbucks Chai Tea Lattes with soy milk are my guilty pleasure and I can never say no to a bite of cheesecake (though I try so hard!)

I can't wait to get to know YOU and all the things we have in common!

Why

I left traditional
insurance-based
practice and started

PLANTED
Direct Primary Care

After years of working in the traditional, insurance-based system, I saw how much the structure of fee-for-service medicine affects the care patients receive. Patients often face long wait times, poor phone communication, and limited access to their doctor when they need to get in urgently. Appointments can feel rushed and impersonal, often with different providers, leaving little opportunity to discuss concerns fully or build a meaningful relationship with the clinician.

Why is this the case? The answer: insurance-based fee-for-service healthcare

In the predominant healthcare model, doctors are only reimbursed for billable, in-person visits. This pushes clinics and health systems to focus on quantity over quality, requiring doctors to see more patients in less time. The result is shorter visits, limited access, and frustration for both patients and physicians. On top of that, insurance companies dictate certain documentation requirements, causing your physician to spend less time focusing on you and more time checking boxes and typing.

These challenges affected my ability to provide the quality care my patients deserve.

So I stepped off the traditional path

and created

DPC is a win-win for patients and physicians

As a Christian physician, my care is rooted in faith, trust, and a deep respect for the dignity of each person and family I serve. I understand the unique challenges faced by the “sandwich generation”, those balancing careers, raising children, and caring for aging parents, along with the daily demands shouldered by self-employed professionals and small business owners. You work hard, carry many responsibilities, and deserve a healthcare partner who sees the full picture.

I started this practice after seeing a growing gap in healthcare access, especially among some of the most hardworking people I know: self-employed individuals, 1099 workers, and small business owners. Many of them are deeply committed to their work and families but often go without the care they need because traditional insurance is simply too expensive or doesn’t meet their needs. I built this practice to be a trusted ally, someone who truly knows you, walks alongside you, and offers accessible, personalized care without the red tape.

At Planted Direct Primary Care, trust is foundational. I take time to listen, to understand your goals, and to empower you to take control of your health. Together, we create realistic, personal care plans starting with small, achievable goals that move you toward better health, at your pace.

I care not only about your medical needs, but about your life, your family, and your future. I practice evidence-based medicine through a relational lens, meeting you where you are, helping you stay well, and being here when you need me most.

I bring emotional intelligence and creative problem-solving to every encounter. I don’t shy away from challenges, and I’m not tied to “the way things have always been done.” My management style is supportive and engaging. I speak with clarity and kindness, remain non-judgmental, and strive to build genuine, long-lasting connections with every patient I serve.
